Vale (Human Variant)

Vale are gifted Humans who can sense, feel, become a conduit for, and even harness energy from the emotions of those around them. This can make them very powerful if trained and extremely self-detrimental if not. Rumor speaks of a sect of monks who are gathering and training these empaths for unknown purposes.   Empath You have super empathic abilities. You feel the emotions and intentions of those immediately around you. At level 1 you can sense the emotions of any humanoid creature in a 30 ft radius. This range increases by 10 ft for every odd level you reach for a maximum of 100 ft. You gain proficiency with the insight skill or expertise if already proficient.   Uncanny Insight You can use your action to try to get uncanny insight about one humanoid you can see within 30 feet of you. Make a Wisdom (Insight) check contested by the target’s Charisma (Deception) check. If your check succeeds, you have advantage on attack rolls and ability checks against the target until the end of your next turn.   (optional) Raised by Monks You were an exceptionally difficult child to raise. When you were young, Monks came to take you in from parents who would struggle to raise you. You found yourself raised with other Valey like your self. You were taught to control your empathic abilities and even to harness the energy of others' emotions. While you have become exceptionally gifted with your empathic abilities, you were left stoic and often emotionless unless you were acting as a conduit for others' emotions.   Emotional Overload At level 3 you gain the feat Emotional Overload. You feel the rage of 10 or more humanoid creatures in combat. You gain advantage on all attacks for the next 5 turns until combat ends or you reach 0 HP. Can only be performed once per long rest.   Immense Pain The biggest drawback to your incredible power is your equally incredibly low pain tolerance. When struck your empathic abilities act as an echo chamber for your pain and the emotions that come with it. You take -2 to your overall Constitution score.
