Age: Aquarians age slower than some species with an Aquarian reaching full maturity at 25 and living to about 170 years.
Alignment: Thanks to their constant state of war or at least some variable of combat, Aquarians are very rarely good natured, though rare ones like Nemur do exist. Depending on which side of war they favor, they can be lawful or chaotic. If they uphold an honor code of combat, then they are more likely to be lawful. If they are reckless and revel in the chaos of battle, then they tend to lean more chaotic.
Size: Aquarians range between 5 and six feet and can weight anywhere between 130 and 300 pounds. Your size is medium.
Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Aquatic Travel: Being built for aquatic environments and spending their time in the sea, they are capable of greater travel in these areas. Aquarians gain a swimming speed of 45 feet.
Dark Vision: Used the deep depths of the ocean, they have Darkvision. You can see dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of grey.
Languages: You can speak, read, and write common and Aquarian. Aquarian is a harsh language riddled with gargles and hissing.
Subrace: There are different subraces belonging to this overall race. You may be either a Nemurians or Nessians
Nemurians
The Nemurians are the ocean dwelling descendants of Nemur. Despite his more diplomatic and pacifist approach to things, they Nemurians still deem Nemur to be their hero. This has never necessarily changed their warrior tendencies, but has allowed them a relationship with the Edicians. This subrace more often has the blue hued skin and a more aggressive demeanor.
Ability Score Improvement: Your Constitution Score Increases by 1.
Fin form: As a bonus action, Nemurians may activate their finns, a magic which transforms their legs into fins and vice versa. When in fin form, Nemurians receive a +15 bonus to their swimming speed, but have no walking speed. Any injuries to their fin will translate to their legs and vice versa.
Menacing: You gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill.
Savage Attacks: When you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can roll one of the weapon’s damage dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage of the critical role.
Nessians
Also known as Freshwater Aquarians, they primarily inhabit fresh water sources such as swamps and lakes. They are the introverted cousins of the Nemurians, choosing seclusion. Many of the communities are forged in secret requiring several levels of knowledge to access. While Nessians do interact with other communities, they are very careful not to give away the location of their hidden homes. This is due to a distrust with others outside their own community thanks to their exile by the Edician Council, but also thanks to the desire of war from their cousins. This isn’t to say they are pacifists. Nessians will fight to the death to protect the secrecy of their people. Unlike their reckless cousins, they tend towards more strategic methods of victory utilizing their skill and environment against their opponent. When the opportunity comes to vanish, they will often take it. Unlike the Nemurians, the Nessians skin tone is closer to that of Edicians naturally. Despite this, they find it more difficult to hide their Aquatic features. Alternatively, Nessians have the ability to blend with their aquatic environments to hide.
Ability Score Improvement: Your Dexterity Score Increases by 1.
Water Camouflage: Your skin and fins can change their color to match the surrounding aquatic environment. You may take a hide action whenever in any body of water, even without being behind or under an object. When doing this, you also have advantage on all Stealth Checks.
Dazzling Gaze: Nessians gain a proficiency in Persuasion.
Murkey Waters: Capable of traveling in more murky waters, your species has come into contact and gained some level of immunity with several toxins. You have advantage on saving throws against poison and you have resistance against poison damage.
