Cultural overview: Ratfolk are a secretive and tight-knit group of people, resembling large humanoid rats. Ratfolk culture is heavily influenced by their view of the outside world, as they feel that the whole world is out to get them and harm the generally peaceful existence they try to lead, despite this Rat people are generally friendly to outsiders, yet they will always consider non-ratfolk to be untrustworthy. Ratfolk may deem a non-ratfolk as "ratkin", meaning that they are "as close as an outsider can get" to being a rat, this is awarded to those who have protected and aided rat kind in a manner proving dependability and that they mean no harm. Ratfolk across their history have been used, manipulated and generally walked over by larger people, leading to the idea that all rats have to stick together, and it's them against the world.   Religion: Ratfolk faith is based upon a vast collection of stories and legends about various famous rats collected in a book known as the "Kod kogtya" or code of the claw. This book is considered the closest thing to a holy book and has a generally pan-druidic theme to it, yet this book isn't considered a strict gospel but serves as a base of rat culture, history and Ideals. ratfolk generally don't build temples nor rever any gods like other people would, Ratfolk generally build small shrines to famous and beloved rats and leave a small offering of food or poems as a sign of love and respect.   Rat Bite!: Ratfolk teeth are famous for their strength and biting prowess. Ratfolk may bite through wood, clay, and even some metals if given enough time and have an advantage in doing so. Ratfolk may also bite others with said bite, that carries a fairly nasty infection (depending on the diet of the individual) and may make a bite attack for 1d4 damage, the target must also make a constitution save (DC12) if failed the target takes an extra 1d4 poison damage and receive one of any illness that the ratfolk has (if any)   Scavenger: Ratfolk are known for their skills in finding tasty morsels and useful items, gaining proficiency in investigation and stealth and may do both (hide and investigate)as a bonus action.   Ability Score Increase: Your Dexterity, Wisdom, and constitution scores increases by 1.   Age: A Rat reaches adulthood at the age of 14 and generally lives into their late 60's to even 70's   Alignment: Ratfolk are wild and free, doing as they please, where they please, but always with good intentions. Ratfolk are difficult people to rule over, and often ignore the authority of others, Rat society is usually a loosely planned one, with the highest leader only being a mayor of the community or a respected member of society. generally, ratfolk dislike the idea of monarchy and large scale rule, opting for tight-knit communities. For these reasons and more, ratfolk tend toward the chaotic-neutral, chaotic good alignment, rats that are too law-abiding are often teased and are known as "fancy rats"   Size: A ratfolk averages about 2 feet tall and weighs about 25-50 pounds. Your size is Small.   Speed: Your base walking speed is 25 feet and can tunnel at a speed of 10 feet.   Languages: You can speak, read, and write Common and Ratfolk. Rat language is complex, sounding similar to Russian or Romanian, and is paired with a scratchy script that non-ratfolk find difficult to read. Few ratfolk speak common expect those who dwell outside the hidden borrows of the ratfolk, this is due to ratfolk mainly keeping to themselves, and often fearing outsiders. Ratfolk have been rumoured to have developed a special whisper that only Ratfolk ears can hear, this allows Ratfolk to communicate around each other even if an outsider could speak Ratfolk
