Age. Medusas mature at the same rate as humans, but can live to roughly 400 years, longer than most races. Alignment. Most medusas are either neutral or evil, leaning towards neither law nor chaos. Good medusas are virtually unheard of. Unusual Anatomy. Medusas who choose to wear armor must have it specially modified to fit their serpentine body structure, tripling its base cost. Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. Natural Weapons. Your serpentine body is a natural unarmed weapon that you are proficient with. If it hits, you deal bludgeoning damage equal to (1d6 + your Strength modifier) and the target is automatically grappled if the medusa chooses to do so (escape DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier). Until the grapple ends, you cannot constrict another target, but the current target is restrained. Petrifying Gaze. Once per long rest, you can force a creature within 30 feet of you that can see your eyes to lock its gaze with yours. If the creature has less hit points than your level times 12, it must make a Constitution saving throw equal to 7 + your Wisdom modifier + your proficiency bonus. On a failed save, the target begins turning to stone and is restrained. At the end of its next turn, the target must attempt another save, become petrified on another failure or becoming cured of the effect on a success. A petrified creature can only be healed by a greater restoration spell or similar magic.
