1-level Necromancy
As a part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a melee attack with a weapon against one creature withing range, otherwise the spell fails. On a hit, the target suffers the attack's normal effects. Roll 5d8, if the target creature's remaining hit points are less than the total roll, the wound is magically enhanced. Until the spell ends, the creature takes 1d8 psychic damage at the end of each of its turns. The spell immediately ends if the creature receives healing as the result of a spell of magical effect.
At higher levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the spell only ends if the creature receives healing as the result of a spell cast at an equal or higher level than the level this spell was cast at. Additionally, the target takes an additional 1d8 psychic damage at the end of each of its turns for each slot level above 1st.
