Rope Arrow

Adventuring Gear Rare

This contraption consists of a hollow steel arrow, with a set of three spring loaded prongs on the head. Attached to the back of the arrow is 60ft of narrow gauge wire attached to a small reel mechanism, mounted on the top of a 2ft hollow steel tube. The reel mechanism tube is slotted into the quiver.
The arrow head can be fired like a standard arrow, and it's serrated tip should be able to bite into wood, solid dirt or similar materials. Due to the additional weight of the line, the arrow is more difficult to aim.
There are three buttons on the reel mechanism. The first activates a set of three spring loaded prongs in the tube. These can be used to help wedge the pole into a crevice - alternatively the pole can be driven into the ground, or the line can be wrapped around an object.
The second button activates a motor in the reel. This will reel in the line, either tensioning the cable, or retrieving the arrow.
The third button causes the serrated arrow head to collapse, allowing the arrow to be retrieved from it's surface.

The reel mechanism must be maintained and periodically oiled, or the bearings will seize and prevent the arrow from flying.
Each time the arrow is fired, roll 1d10 . If the number rolled does not exceed the number of days since the reel was last oiled, the arrow drops to the ground 5ft in front of the player.

FleshDue to the additional weight of the arrow, any attacks made with the rope arrow are subject to a -5 To Hit penalty. If they do hit however, the rope arrow deals 1d6 Piercing Damage, plus an additional 1d4 Slashing Damage as the spring loaded prongs extend. In addition, the line is then attached to the target, and the player can make an Athletics check contested by the targets Strength Saving Throw, to pull the target up to 10ft towards them. The target can use its action to pull the player using the same rules; or can make a DC20 Constitution Saving Throw to pull the arrow out; or can attempt to cut the wire. The wire is immune to piercing damage and resistant to bludgeoning damage; has an AC of 5 and 15HP
