Tethered gemstone

Wondrous Item A tethered gemstone serves in similar fashion to a scroll. It stores a single spell at the level selected by the craftsman. The initial creation requires a gemstone of 25sp value or greater. They type of gemstone determines the magical focus (arcanic, druidic, bardic,  or holy). A player must be trained to 'reload' a tethered gemstone, but the process can be learned easily, and when purchasing a tethered gemstone from a craftsman, training is included with the purchase price. Loading the gemstone expends one spell slot of the level level being put into the gemstone. The process requires an Int check DC10 to successfully load. If the check is failed it cannot be attempted again for 24 hours. Any attempt to load a gemstone expends the spell slot as if the spell was cast normally. Using a tethered gemstone is a bonus action if it is already in hand. Varies

A tethered gemstone is used to store a spell in reserve of a particular school of magic. During its original construction, the type of gem determines which of the four main aspects of magic it is suited for. emeralds for Druidic, sapphires for Bardic, rubies for Arcanic, and diamonds for Holy magic. At tethered gemstone is not tied to the caster, but can only be activated by someone in with magical ability of that type. The results of the spell are no different than if it was cast normally. If the user cannot cast the level of spell contained in the gem, there is a chance for error and possibly immediate destruction of the gem itself. Loading a tethered gemstone looks different for each aspect. Druids may meditate with it, while bards might perform an elaborate piece of music, but the result is the same, a known spell is stored inside the vessel until needed.
