Crimson Quill

Wondrous Item Magical, one hand Very Rare (this item requires attunement) [Spellcaster]

At first glance, the Crimson Quill seems to be an ordinary white quill, tipped with red ink, similar to what a schoolteacher might use to correct a student's mistake. After a short rest of meditation to learn its properties, you will find that the quill can alter the names of spells and thus the outcome. It has 3 charges on it which reset every day at dawn. When casting a spell, you may use a reaction to change up to 3 letters in that spell's name. These changes may be removing a letter for 1 charge, changing a letter for 1 charge, or adding a letter for 2 charges. The outcome of the spell is now entirely up to the Dungeon Master, however, the nature of the spell remains the same. For instance, the spell Fire Bolt is an Evocation cantrip with a casting time of one action, a range of 120 feet, verbal and sematic components, and an instantaneous duration. If one were to edit the spell to be "Fir Boot", it would be a similar outcome, however, it manifests in the form of a boot, does bludgeoning damage instead of fire damage, and most likely will deal less damage. The effects of the spell should reflect the level of the base spell being used.
