As you cast this spell, make a melee touch attack. If it hits, deal 1d8 negative energy damage per caster level (up to 20d8). A successful will save halves this damage. In addition, you restore HP up to the damage you dealt.
Alternatively, instead of dealing damage to HP, you can instead deal 1d4+1 per three caster levels (maximum 1d4+6) ability drain to any ability score and gain an enhancement bonus equal to the ability drain dealt for 1 hour per caster level. A successful will save negates the drain.
