The Hand of St. Gaed the Confessor

Wondrous Item Magical Legendary [To attune with the Hand of St. Gaed, it must be hammered, in its nail shape, into the stump of a missing limb.]

The hand of St. Gaed appears as a twisted spike, wrought of gold in its normal form, and is the size of a tent stake. When hammered into place and attuned the item, the nail will seem to spout liquid gold, will from a hand or foot, proportional to the user. The hand will be obviously metallic and have ornate filigree along the length of the prosthesis, appearing to be a masterfully wrought piece of metal sculpting, till it moves with fluid grace.   The hand grants a number of benefits to its user:

  • The user can add their proficiency bonus to their initiative
  • The user is considered proficient perception and insight
  • The user has advantage on athletics and strength checks dependent on grip strength using that hand
But the item has some drawbacks as well:
  • Tactile bases perception checks with the hand have a disadvantage.
Finally, the item is sentient, imbued with a vestige of St. Gaed's soul. The echo of this great hero of the Engarlands pushes the user to adhere to a similar code of unfaltering fidelity and valiance once upheld by St. Gaed himself. The hand has the following stats:
  • Intelligence: 10
  • Wisdom: 14
  • Charisma: 16
  • Alignment: Lawful Neutral
  • Communication: The item communicates by transmitting emotion to the creating carrying or wielding it
  • Perception: Hearing and vision 30ft, Passive Perception: 15
  • Purpose: Protect and dutifully serve your liege and the Empire.
