Earthen Ward

1-level Transmutation

Casting Time: 1 reaction, which you take when you are hit by an attack and are within 5 feet of the ground or a surface made of stone
Range/Area: Self (5-foot radius)
Components: S, M
Materials: a pinch of dirt
Duration: Instantaneous
You cause the ground or stone within 5 feet of you to rise into the form of an earthen ward between you and the triggering attack. The ward appears in the form of a 5-by-5 foot panel that is 6 inches thick. It has an AC of 11 + your spellcasting ability modifier and 10 hit points. If the ward cuts through a creature’s space when it appears, the creature is pushed to one side of the ward (your choice).   The ward takes the damage from the triggering attack instead of you. If the attack reduces the ward to 0 damage, the ward is destroyed, and you take any remaining damage.
At higher levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd-level or higher, the ward's AC increases by 1 and its hit points increase by 10 for each slot level above 1st.
Available for: Druid, Sorcerer, Wizard
