Demonic Lightning Dragon Slayer

In the mystical realm where dark purple lightning dances, there emerges a class that embodies the essence of thunderstorms and wields the might of dragons—the Demonic Lightning Slayers. Drawing inspiration from the Dragon Slayers of Fairy Tail, these warriors are marked by a unique connection with the primal forces of the storm and the power to consume and harness the very essence of lightning.  

Origins:

  Demonic Lightning Slayers are not mere spellcasters; they are individuals chosen by fate to form a symbiotic bond with dark energies. This connection is forged through a mysterious and potent ritual, linking their souls to the storm itself. The power they wield is not just arcane; it's an elemental force coursing through their veins.

hit points at 1st level: 1d10 + Constitution modifier
hit points at higher levels: 1d10 + Constitution modifier per Demonic Lightning Slayer level after 1st
armor proficiencies: Light Armor, Medium Armor
weapon proficiencies: Simple weapons, martial weapons
tools: Drums, Guitar
saving throws: Dexterity, Charisma
skills: Choose two from Acrobatics, Athletics, Intimidation, Perception, and Survival
starting equipment:
You start with the following equipment, in addition to the equipment granted by your background:
  • (a) a martial weapon and a shield or (b) two martial weapons

  • (a) studded leather armor or (b) scale mail

  • (a) a dungeoneer's pack or (b) an explorer's pack
spellcasting:
  • Your spells and abilities use Charisma as your spellcasting ability.
  • All of the spells used have something to do with lightning or will have a lighting affect
  • Also the type of damage is lightning damage, not the one stated in the statblock (check with DM for other info)
  • You can only have spells 2 of every spell level (except cantrips), e.g only two level 1 spells from the list
class features:
Demonic Lightning Magic (Level 1): You can harness the power of dark purple lightning. At 1st level, you gain proficiency in the Arcana skill. As such, you also become a living lighting rod, drawing lightning and lightning magic attacks towards you.   Demonic Consumption (Level 1): Starting at 1st level, you can consume other lightning attacks directed at you, absorbing their energy to empower yourself. As a reaction, when you take lightning damage, you can choose to absorb the energy instead. For each hit die of damage absorbed, you gain hit points equal to the absorbed amount. If this healing brings you above your maximum hit points, the excess hit points become temporary hit points. The maximum hit points you can gain from this feature is equal to your maximum hit points. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1), and you regain expended uses after finishing a short or long rest.   Demonic Strike (Level 2): At 2nd level, you learn to infuse your weapon strikes with dark lightning. Once per turn when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can deal extra lightning damage equal to your Charisma modifier + Proficiency Bonus.   Dragon's Roar (Level 4): At 4th level, you gain the ability to unleash a powerful Dragon's Roar. As an action, you can unleash a 30-foot cone of dark purple lightning in front of you. Creatures in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, a creature takes lightning damage equal to your Demonic Lightning Slayer level and is stunned until the end of its next turn. On a successful save, the creature takes half damage and isn't stunned. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.   Ability Score Improvement (Level 4): When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.   Extra Attack (Level 5): Beginning at 5th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.   Demonic Lightning Resistance (Level 6): Starting at 6th level, you gain resistance to lightning damage. Additionally, you have advantage on saving throws against being paralyzed or stunned.   Ability Score Improvement (Level 8): When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.   Thunderous Step (Level 10): At 10th level, you can move with supernatural speed, leaving an electrified trail behind you. You gain a flying speed equal to your current walking speed for 1 minute. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.   Ability Score Improvement (Level 12): When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.   Dark Lightning Form (Level 14): Upon reaching 14th level, you can transform into a living storm of dark purple lightning. As a bonus action, you gain immunity to lightning and thunder damage, and your attacks deal additional lightning damage equal to your Charisma modifier for 1 minute. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.   Ability Score Improvement (Level 16): When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.   Demonic Lightning Mastery (Level 18): At 18th level, your mastery over dark purple lightning reaches its zenith. When you deal lightning damage, you can reroll any damage dice that result in a 1, and you must use the new roll. Additionally, creatures with resistance to lightning damage no longer benefit from their resistance.   Ability Score Improvement (Level 19): When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.   Demonic Lightning Ascension (Level 20): At 20th level, you can harness the ultimate power of the demonic lightning. Once per long rest, you can enter a state of Demonic Lightning Ascension for 1 minute. During this time, your dark purple lightning damage is maximized, and you gain advantage on all saving throws against spells and magical effects. Additionally, while in this state, you can use your reaction to absorb and negate a dragon's breath attack, converting it into healing equal to the damage you would have taken. The Ascension state ends if you fall unconscious or if the minute elapses.

Demonic Lightning Slayer - Lacrima Adept (Subclass)

Draconic Resonance (Level 3): At 3rd level, you've developed a unique connection with your draconic powers. When you cast a spell that deals lightning damage, you can add your Charisma modifier to the damage dealt. Additionally, when you deal damage with your Demonic Strike feature, you can choose to deal 1d6 more lightning damage.   Draconic Presence (Level 6): At 6th level, your connection to your draconic powers manifests in a powerful aura. As a bonus action, you can unleash your Draconic Presence, exuding an overwhelming aura of dark purple lightning. Creatures of your choice within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, a creature is frightened for 1 minute. It can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.   While your Draconic Presence is active, your melee weapon attacks deal additional lightning damage equal to your Charisma modifier.   You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1), and you regain expended uses after finishing a short or long rest.   Dragon Force Infusion (Level 10): At 10th level, you've unlocked the ability to enter Dragon Force, enhancing your physical and magical abilities. When you enter Dragon Force, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute:   Your movement speed increases by 10 feet. Your attacks deal additional lightning damage equal to your Charisma modifier. You have advantage on saving throws against being paralyzed or stunned. You can enter Dragon Force a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, and you regain expended uses after finishing a long rest.   Demonic Dragon Wings (Level 14): Upon reaching 14th level, you can manifest spectral dragon wings, allowing you to fly. As a bonus action, you can summon or dismiss these wings. While the wings are present, your flying speed is equal to your current walking speed, and you gain advantage on saving throws against effects that would move you against your will. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, and you regain expended uses after finishing a long rest.   Draconic Overdrive (Level 18): At 18th level, you can push your draconic powers to their limits. Once per long rest, you can enter Draconic Overdrive for 1 minute. During this time, you gain the following benefits:  
  • Your Dragon's Roar feature's range increases to 60 feet.
  • Your Dragon Force Infusion benefits are doubled.
  • Your Demonic Lightning Mastery feature now allows you to reroll any damage dice that result in a 1 or a 2, and you must use the new roll.
