Unpredictable Surge
Starting at 3rd level, your untamed psionics manifest in erratic surges of unpredictable power. Whenever you use a psionic ability, become frightened, or lose more than 25% of your hit points in a single round, roll a d20. On a roll of 1-5, a wild surge occurs, and you unleash an unexpected effect from the following list, dictated by another d20 roll:
- A soothing aura envelops you and all allies within 20 feet, restoring 1d8 hit points.
- Your hair stands on end, crackling with harmless static electricity.
- A bolt of lightning strikes a random creature within 30 feet of you.
- A burst of confetti showers from your fingertips.
- An explosion of fire erupts in a 10-foot radius around you, dealing 2d10 fire damage.
- A calming energy fills the area, removing one level of exhaustion from you or an ally.
- Your voice deepens dramatically, echoing eerily.
- A faint scent of lavender wafts around you, calming those nearby.
- A disorienting wave of psychic energy emanates from you, forcing all creatures within 30 feet to make an Intelligence saving throw or take 3d8 psychic damage.
- You and all allies within 15 feet gain temporary hit points equal to your level.
- Your shadow briefly detaches from you and moves independently for 1 minute.
- A swirl of vibrant colors dances around you, creating a mesmerizing spectacle.
- A chaotic surge of energy erupts, causing a 20-foot radius explosion, dealing 4d6 force damage to creatures in the area.
- A rejuvenating light bathes you and your allies, healing 2d8 hit points each.
- Your voice deepens dramatically, echoing eerily.
- A beam of pure energy shoots from your outstretched hand, dealing 5d12 radiant damage to a target within 60 feet.
- A floating, translucent orb hovers near you, emitting dim light.
- A flurry of razor-sharp projectiles shoots out from you, dealing 3d10 piercing damage to creatures in a 15-foot cone.
- Your shadow briefly detaches from you and moves independently for 1 minute.
- A massive shockwave emanates, knocking all creatures within 20 feet prone.
Alien Manifestation
At 3rd level, you gain the ability to channel your untamed energy into a strange and alien form of attack. As an action, you can cast Chaos Bolt as a psionic ability a number of times per day equal to your Intelligence modifier, replenishing expended uses after a long rest.
Chaotic Aid
Starting at 8th level, your unpredictable abilities can manifest as strange and unique boons for your allies. As a bonus action, you can choose a willing creature within 30 feet of you to receive one of the following random benefits, dictated by rolling 1d8:
- Evasive Instincts: Automatically evade the next attack targeting them.
- Elemental Affinity: Provides immunity to a randomly chosen damage type (roll a d6 for acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, thunder) for 1 minute.
- Enhanced Speed: Increases movement speed by 30 feet for 1 minute.
- Ethereal Step: Allows the recipient to become ethereal for 1 minute.
- Unnatural Strength: Adds a +4 bonus to Strength checks and saves for 1 minute.
- Psionic Barrier: Grants temporary hit points equal to your level plus your Intelligence modifier multiplied by 2 for 1 minute.
- Temporal Flux: Grants the recipient the ability to take an additional reaction for the next 1 minute.
- Resonating Presence: Causes the recipient's voice to resonate with power, granting advantage on Charisma checks for 1 minute.
You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Proficiency bonus, replenishing expended uses after a short or long rest.
Untame Pulse
At 12th level, your untamed powers reach new heights of unpredictability. Once per long rest, you can release a devastating pulse of psionic energy. Roll a d8 to determine the effect:
- A wave of energy damages creatures in a 60-foot long, 10-foot wide line, dealing 8d8 force damage. Creatures that die from this effect are desintegrated. Creatures in this space must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking half damage on a successful save.
- An arcane storm engulfs the area, causing hostile creatures to be affected by the confusion spell for 1 minute.
- Reality warps, causing creatures within 40 feet to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature is forced to age rapidly, becoming frail and weak, gaining disadvantage on all Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution saving throws, and losing half of their maximum hit points.
- A psionic blast forces creatures in a 30-foot radius sphere centered on you to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, creatures are dazed for 1 minute. Affected creatures can repeat their saving throw at the end of each of their turns to end the stun effect.
- Time fluctuates, granting you and your allies an additional turn in combat each for 1 minute.
- A rift to the astral plane appears, releasing astral stalkers that attack any creatures nearby.
- A burst of dark energy deals 8d6 necrotic damage and weakens creatures for 1 minute.
- Temporal instability reverts creatures in a 40-foot radius to become frozen in time for 5 rounds, during which time you take 5 consecutive turns. During this time, your actions appear to have no effect. When this effect ends, all actions taken by you are resolved simultaneously.
You cannot use this ability again until you complete a long rest.
Chaos Tamed
At 16th level, you have mastered the unpredictable nature of your untamed psionics as much as is possible. Your Unpredictable Surges ability no longer carries the risk of wild surges on a roll higher than 1. Additionally, when using your abilities, you roll two of the appropriate die, including your Unpredictable Surges ability, and choose one of the two to use. If you roll the same number on both, choose freely among the options of the feature in questions and double the effects and saving throw necessary.
