Hysteria Induction Module (HIM) Adverse and Strange Effects Table:

Roll the Dice
Feedback Loop: The user experiences a burst of uncontrollable laughter for 1 round, becoming incapacitated for the duration.
Uncontrolled Emission: The nanobots malfunction, affecting a random creature within range in addition to the intended target.
Temporary Malfunction: The HIM system fails to initiate properly. The action is wasted, but no resources are expended.
Misdirected Signals: Instead of inducing laughter, the target is filled with a sense of dread, becoming frightened of the user for 1 round.
Power Surge: The HIM system surges, dealing 1d4 psychic damage to both the user and the target.
Enhanced Effect: The laughter induced is profoundly infectious. The target takes a -2 penalty to their initial saving throw against the effect.
Sympathetic Resonance: Nearby creatures within a 10-foot radius of the target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be affected by a lesser version of the effect, becoming giggly and suffering disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks for 1 round.
Sudden Silence: The HIM system creates a sudden burst of neural activity, followed by a deep silence. All creatures within 30 feet of the user become deafened for 1 round.
Mood Swings: The target experiences extreme mood swings for the duration, cycling between laughter, sadness, and anger, which could potentially affect their actions and decisions.
Perfect Tuning: The HIM system perfectly syncs with the target's neural pathways, extending the duration of the effect by 1 round and making the first saving throw the target attempts against the effect at a disadvantage.
