Cactii

Cactii are magically animated, intellegent cactus that take on a larger than average humanoid figure. They are not common as they happen by chance and are unlikely to run into another of their kind. Because they do not have their own civilizations, they are likely to be nomatic or adapt to the culture of whatever civilization is closest to their awakening. Most races are likely to be wary of these prickly people and are hesitant to establish bonds with them. Their features lead many humans to believe Cactii are simply cursed humans which makes them the most sympathetic.   Cactii are a stubborn race, likely to stay set in the ways they were taught during their early life. They have a strong tie to nature and feel a compulsive need to protect the plants and animals that do not have the ability to protect themselves. This leads most to follow Deities tied to nature such as:
  • Amaunator, god of the sun
  • Chauntea, goddess of agriculture
  • Grumbar, god of earth
  • Silvanus, god of wild nature

race features:
Desert Resilience. A cactus, being a succulent, can store water for further use. Your daily water requirement is halved. You are unaffected by Extreme Heat   Plant Ancestry. Your creature type is considered to be both plant and humanoid. You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned.   Succulent Sneak. +2 racial bonus to Hide checks in desert regions.   Water Retainment. Cacti are already full of water. Spiky cacti retain even more water thanks to their spikes, which are actually water-efficient leaves. Thanks to all this water in your system, flames are less effective against you. You are resistant to fire damage.   Prickly Punch. Your spiky fists are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with them, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Cactii are abnormally large humanoid figures, usually ranging from 6'-8' in height, with petruding calves and forearms that take the shape of the species of cactus they were pre-awakening. Their skin ranges from pale sage to a dark olive green. They also have succulent locs on the top of their head in the place of hair in any color (most commonly green, yellow, orange, or red) and have the potential to bloom flowers on the ends. The eyes of Cactii almost always match the color of their locs. Also in place of hair, Cactii have small needles that stick out everwhere aside from the palms of their hands, feet, or face with exception of their eyebrows, eyelashes, or potential facial hair.
