Description

As an ex-military man, Jack Fields is disciplined and trained in combat. After his service ended, he settled in Veridia and took on various jobs to provide for his son. Despite the hardships of the city, Jack's focus has always been on raising Hector and giving him the best life possible under the circumstances. He is a proud father and a symbol of strength in an otherwise chaotic city.  

Equipment

A custom-made military-grade cybernetic arm, a sidearm laser pistol, a personal shield generator (acts like a shield in D&D terms), and a keepsake photo of Stella.

Ideals

Discipline: Order and discipline are necessary for the survival and prosperity of society. It's not enough just to get by; we have to strive for excellence and hold ourselves to high standards. Jack embodies this principle and tries to pass it on to his son, Hector. He strongly believes in maintaining a regimented lifestyle, adhering to a code of conduct that emphasizes hard work, integrity, and honor. Protection: Jack believes that it is the responsibility of the strong to protect the weak. As an ex-military man, he still carries the ideal of safeguarding those who can't defend themselves. This extends to his city of Veridia, which he views as a place worth defending despite its many flaws. Jack is a man who will not stand by when others are in danger.

Bonds

Hector: Jack's bond with his son, Hector, is his primary motivation. He has devoted himself to his son's upbringing, working tirelessly to provide for him and educate him in the skills he will need to survive in Veridia. Jack's ultimate goal is to prepare Hector to face any challenge that comes his way. Veridia: Despite its troubles, Jack feels a deep bond with his city. He has seen the city at its best and its worst and has dedicated himself to making it a safer place for its inhabitants. He feels a sense of duty towards his fellow Veridians and strives to uphold the law and order amidst the chaos.

Flaws

Stubborn: Jack's commitment to his ideals can make him rigid and inflexible. He has a hard time accepting alternative viewpoints and can become fixated on a single course of action, even when it's clear that it might not be the best approach. Haunted by the Past: The absence of Stella, Hector's mother, weighs heavily on Jack. He harbors a sense of guilt for not being able to keep her safe and this haunts him, often causing him to be overly protective of Hector. He can also become melancholic when reminded of her, which can cloud his judgement at critical times.


Tactics:

Jack is an experienced soldier, he knows when to press the attack and when to hold the line. He uses the terrain to his advantage and is adept at coordinating with allies.

Multiattack: Jack makes two melee attacks or two ranged attacks.   Cybernetic Punch (Melee Weapon Attack): +6 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) bludgeoning damage.   Laser Pistol (Ranged Weapon Attack): +5 to hit, range 50/150 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) radiant damage.

Reactions

Shield Wall: As a reaction, Jack activates his personal shield generator to add +2 to his AC until the start of his next turn.
