Tanako

Originating from Nitorin, and hailing from Niflheimr, the Tanuko are a race of tricky, quick witted humanoid people who have an innate shapechanging ability.   The Tanuko migrated from their home in Niflheimr to Xiang'Yau long ago, but were exiled from that nation during the great cleanse. Lost and destitute, they traveled to the archipelago of Nitorin

Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on attempts to charm you, and you cannot be put to sleep by magical means.   Trickster Nature. You gain two proficiencies in either Deception, Persuasion, Performance, Sleight of Hand, and Stealth.   Tanuko Shapechange. As a Tanuko, you have the innate ability to change your shape into several types of mundane items. As an action, you may choose to transform your body into a non-magical, mundane object of small size or tiny size. This transformation acts similarly to the true polymorph spell, and is defined by the following rules:
  • You may not transform into an object your DM deems is above a small size, or below a tiny size.
  • You can move around in this form, but at the risk of revealing yourself. Your speed while polymorphed will be decided by your DM.
  • You may not speak in this form, but you are fully sapient and aware of what is going on, retaining your intelligence.
  • Any item that would be deemed as breakable will not be when you are transformed into it.
  • As an item, you may be picked up and carried around.
  • You may remain in this form indefinitely, unless knocked unconscious or killed.
  • If you are thrown and hit an enemy, your DM will determine the damage dice for doing so.
The DC to determine your true identity is 13 + your Charisma modifier, and there are no limitations on how many times you may use this form.
