Arcane Tradition: School of Evocation

  • Sculpt Spells. Number of targets equal to 1+ the spell's level automatically succeed the saving throw of the spell, suffering no damage.
  • Potent Cantrip. When a target succeeds on its save versus a cantrip, the target still suffers half damage.
  • Empowered Evocation. You add your Intelligence modifier to the damage roll of any wizard evocation spell you cast.
Feat: War Caster
  • You gain advantage on Constitution saving throws to maintain concentration on spells.
  • You can perform the somatic components of spells even when holding a weapon or shield in one or both hands.
  • Opportunity Attacks can now be used to cast a spell as a reaction (the spell must be 1 action and single target).
Feat: Spell Sniper
  • Spells with an attack roll have double their normal range.
  • Your spells ignore 1/2 and 3/4 cover.
  • You learn one cantrip from any classes spell list (your spellcasting ability is that classes).
Feat: Critical Caster
  • Your spells now critical on any roll of natural 20, gaining an additional maxed damage die.
Feat: Rapid Caster
  • Each time you successfully cast a spell you move up +1 in the initiative order.

Actions

Spellweaver's Stave. Melee Weapon Attack. +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 1d6+3 (Versatile: 1d8+3) bludgeoning damage. If this attack successfully strikes a target, Veritan spawns a mote of energy of her choice.   Energy Conversion. Veritan converts up to 3 motes of energy into another type she has stored as a bonus action.   Spellweave. Veritan casts a leveled spell, followed by a cantrip. This does not cause Combat Exhaustion.

Legendary Actions

Veritan can take 3 legendary actions, using the options listed below. She can only take one legendary action at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Veritan regains spent legendary actions at the start of her turn.   Cantrip. Veritan casts a cantrip.   Mind Blank (2 actions). Veritan points at a target and saps them of magical knowledge. The target must succeed on a DC 16 Intelligence saving throw or permanently lose a random memorized or prepared spell.   Energy Barrage. Veritan fires or consumes all motes of energy she currently has stored as though they are Magic Missile. These motes deal 2d6 damage of their respective type or heal Veritan for 2d6 hit points (in the case of radiant or healing motes). No attack roll is made, and they can be split however she chooses.

Lair Actions

When fighting inside its lair, Veritan can invoke additional effects to take lair actions. On initiative count 20 (losing ties), Veritan can take one lair action to cause one of the following effects:

  • Energy Sap (Passive). Veritan has control over the very flow of magic within this room. When spells are cast within her lair, she gains a mote of energy matching the spell's type. Each mote has a value of 2d6 damage or healing (in the case of radiant motes).
  • Transform Energy. Veritan transforms all motes of energy she currently has stored into one type.
  • Mind Wrack. Veritan curses all targets within the room. Until initiative count 20 on the next round, any creature or target attempting to cast a spell of 5th level or lower is wracked with pain. The creature or target can choose another action, but if it tries to complete the spell, it must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target suffers 2d8 psychic damage per level of the spell (cantrips count as 2d8), and the spell is wasted with no effect. Veritan does not gain a mote of energy for spells failed in this way.

This room is lined with tomes and spell books that are far more advanced than you could ever imagine.

This robed woman wears an ornate mask that conceals her otherwise gaunt features.
