Spellcasting. The undertow wight casts one of the following spells, using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 13):

  • At will: detect magic, disguise self, mage armor*, mage hand
  • 1/day each: dispel magic, hunger of Hadar, invisibility, spider climb*
*These spells are alread cast at the start of any encounter.


  • Turn Resistance. The undertow wight has advantage on saving throws against any effect that turns Undead.
  • Unusual Nature. The undertow wight doesn’t require air, food, drink, or sleep.

Actions

  • Multiattack. The undertow wight can use Horrific Visage and then makes two Deathly Claw or Grave Bolt attacks.
  • Deathly Claw. Melee Weapon Attack:  1d20+4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 ( 2d6+2 ) necrotic damage and the target loses an HD, the target dies if it is forced to lose HD and it has none to lose.
  • Grave Bolt. Ranged Spell Attack:  1d20+5 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 14 ( 2d10+3 ) necrotic damage, and the target is immobilised until they make a STR saving throw.
  • Horrific Visage (Recharge 4-6). Each non-undead creature within 60 feet of the undertow wight that can see it when it pulls back the seaweed covering its face, must succeed on a WIS saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute and take 1d6 + 6 psychic damage, and the wight pushes the target up to 15 feet away from it. A frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the frightened condition on itself on a success. If a target's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the target is immune to this wight's Horrific Visage for the next 24 hours. 

Reactions

Reanimate (1/Day). As a reaction to an undead of CR 6 or less being killed within 50 feet of it, the undertow wight can return the target to un-life. The target regains hit points equal to half its starting hit point value. It can stand up as a free action.
