On occasion, a rider may be more focused on their own benefit in their relationship with their dragon. While this results in some dispute and cooperation issues, it does eventually turn into a kind of understanding that the dragon is a partner that is to provide what the rider lacks in combat. These riders tend to focus on singular benefits rather than unity as a whole in their partnership, choosing intense singular moments of cooperation rather than an overall synchronization.

First Steps
At 3rd level, you must choose the color of dragon that has hatched and bonded with you. This dragon begins as a hatchling, and can carry you when you are in immediate danger for one minute, but is too small to ride. The damage type associated with each dragon is used by features you gain later. Most Metallic Dragon colors are available for this synergy type, however Gold, Silver, and Iron have proven to be incompatible with such riders.

Minor Transformation
At 3rd level, you learn to tap into your Draconic Link feature with new intentions. You may consume a use of your draconic link to do one of the following:
- Eye of the Dragon. For the next round, gain +10 to Investigation and Perception skill checks, and to your Passive Perception
- Flesh of the Dragon. For the next round, gain +4 to your AC
- Voice of the Dragon. For the next round, gain +10 to Deception, Intimidation, and Persuasion skill checks
Mark of the Dragon
At 6th level, you learn to use your dragon's incredible sense of sight on a whim. You must declare use of this feature before making a weapon or spell attack. Upon using this feature, the next attack action you make gains +4 to your next attack roll; or, if you have spellcasting, your next spell is treated as one spell level higher.
You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier. Expended uses are recovered after a long rest.
Major Transformation
At 10th level, your ability to borrow from your dragon using your draconic link feature improves. You may consume a use of your draconic link to gain one of the following:
- Arm of the Dragon. Your melee weapon attacks for the next round deal double damage on a successful hit.
- Heart of the Dragon. You instantly recover half of your missing hit points; your dragon receives force damage equal to the number of hit points healed.
- Scale of the Dragon. You gain resistance to the damage type belonging to your dragon's color for one round.
Dragonsurge
At 10th level, you learn to call upon the arcane power of your dragon to temporarily increase your own power. You gain one of the two following benefits, as described:
- Dragon's Might. Increase your Strength Modifier by +4 for a number of rounds equal to half of your Rider level. Only available if you have a Fighting Style under the Rider features.
- Dragon's Mind: Increase the DC required to resist spells you cast by +4 for a number of rounds equal to half of your Rider level. Only available if you have Spellcasting under the Rider features.
You may use this feature 3 times, regaining expended uses after completion of a short or long rest.
Mastered Transformation
At 18th level, you learn to borrow even more from your dragon. By consuming a use of your draconic link feature, you may gain one of the following:
- Lung of the Dragon. You may use the breath weapon found on your dragon's Young Dragon stat block.
- Wings of the Dragon. You gain large draconic wings, the same color as your dragon's, for one round. Your dragon cannot fly during this time, and appears wingless until the effect ends.
- Tail of the Dragon. You may use your dragon's tail attack, as it appears on your dragon's Young Dragon stat block. Your dragon cannot use this attack for one round, and appears tailless until the effect ends.
