Ability Score Increase. A shadarr’s Constitution Score increases by 2 and its Intelligence Score increases by 1. They are particularly dulled to pain and exhaustion by their lack of senses, making them sturdier than the average humanoid, while their time beyond death has given them a fleeting insight into the nature of existence.

Age. Almost all the shadarr-gal are reborn into the world as adults with fleeting memories of their previous life. The shadarr, once back, are hypothetically unaging. However, few are able to endure their existence for more than a few centuries, before succumbing to a final death.

Alignment. They trend towards neutral alignements, though some are reborn as chaotic seekers of their lost vitality. In addition, their loss of self generally precludes the altruism needed to be of good alignment, while fueling more selfish traits.

Size. The shadarr-gal vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet tall to well over 6 feet tall. All are medium size, however.

Speed. A shadarr’s base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Necrotic Resistance. The shadarr have resistance to necrotic damage.

Sleepless Rest. When you take a long rest, you must spend at least six hours in an inactive, motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, you appear inert, but it doesn’t render you unconscious, and you can see and hear as normal.

Undead Fortitude. If damage reduces a shadarr-gal to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC if 5 + the damage taken, unless the damage is radiant or from a critical hit. On a success, the returned drops to 1 hit point instead. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Dearly Departed. When you reach 3rd level, you gain the ability to pull the souls of the departed into your body for a short time. As an action, you may cast the speak with dead spell once with this trait, and regain the ability to do so after a long rest.

Languages. A shadarr can speak, read and write Common and one extra language of the player’s choosing.
