Thyrrus

Referred to as “Squiddies” by Imperials, these strange xeno were nearly wiped out of existence by the Imperial Guard. The Thyrrus are squid-like creatures with several eyes, multi-jointed limbs. Thyrrus tend to disregard petty notions that other species refer to as “survival” and “victory,” instead preferring to live their life as a performance. A Thyrrus chef might destroy a kitchen, burn down an orphanage, and genocide an entire race of people, if it means that it will make for an entertaining meal. Likewise, the thyrrus treated war as a performance, leading to their near-extinction. Thyrrus physiology includes a multitude of tentacles, skin that can change colors at will for social and practical purposes, four eyes, cartilaginous bodies, a pseudomouth that instead works more like a colander, and a naturally-occurring gas mask-like structure. The end result is a creature that seems to care little about living, but is able to live in extreme circumstances and environments.
ability score increase: Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your Dexterity score increases by 1.
age: Thyrrus reach adulthood at just over a decade, and can live up to a century.
alignment: Thyrrus care little for order and laws, finding them boring. Most Thyrrus strive towards chaotic alignments, and care little for good or evil.
Size: Medium
speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet
Languages: You can speak, read, and write Low Gothic and Thyrrus. The Thyrrus language is filled with near-incomprehensible gibberish and every speaker seems to have their own dialect to put their own flair on pronunciation and clarification.
race features:
  • Camouflage. Over the course of 1 minute, you can change your skin color and texture to help camouflage yourself. When camouflaged to an environment, you can attempt to hide even when you are only lightly obscured, such as in dim light, patchy fog, or moderate foliage.
  • Dazzling Display. When a creature you can see makes an attack roll against you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the roll by causing your skin to shift into a multitude of colors. You must use this trait before knowing whether the attack hits or misses.
  • Using this trait causes your camouflage to reset. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
  • Performer. For the thyrrus, a performance is a spice of life. You are proficient in the Performance and Persuasion skills.
  • Strange Physiology. You are naturally resistant to extreme conditions. You have advantage on saving throws against nonenhanced diseases, and the effects of exposure to extreme heat, cold, vacuum, and radiation from the environment. Additionally, you can breathe underwater and in normally inhospitable areas, such as in areas of toxic miasma or brackish water.
