Talino Uprising
The Talino Diaspora has spread across the Talinian Ocean and the Vitran Sea, connecting the continents of Yuchao, Krosia, and Bekebeth. These master sailors earned a reputation as fierce warriors when they threw off the yoke of the sea devils and hunted them almost to extinction.
You don't want to get on the wrong side of them Talinos! They're just as talented with a sword and stick as they are with a frying pan or a lute! I prefer when they're making me food and singing rather than beating on me with a quarterstaff!
For four centuries, the Talin Islands served as a stopping point for trade between the continents of Yuchao, Krosia, and Bekebeth. The explorer Don Talin Mouradian conquered the Islands in the name of Freal Numor. It took decades of hard fought island-to-island battle to subjugate its people. The Numorians used them as the main labor force on their ships.
The hot-blooded Talinos took to this role with their typical mix of resentment and equanamity. They appreciated the chance to spread their blood and culture across the ocean that bore their conqueror's name. They disliked the second-class citizenship that was offered to them by the Numorians. They ingratiated themselves into every culture that they encountered, both leaving behind a cuisine and bloodline flavored with soy and vinegar.
Sahuagin War
In the year 2002 FA, the sea devils of the Sahuagin Empire rose from the depths of the Talinian Ocean to wage war on every nation touching the water. They took slaves from settlements on the water and pulled ships sailing above them down into the water. The sea devils took all of Freal Numor's holdings on the sea, destroying their armada and ending their centuries long control of the trade routes. The Sultanate of the Talin Islands were overrun by sea devils, the population enslaved and the islands used as the land base of the Sahuagin Empire.
After their home islands fell, the widespread Talino Diaspora seethed with anger. They hungered for the liberation of the motherland and her people. Rumors of sahuagin atrocities leaked out of the islands with refugees and escaping soldiers. Diasporic Talinos spent decades gathering allies to take the fight back to the sea-devils.
The Uprising
It took two human generations for the Talino people to rise against the sahuagin. During the decades of their subjugation, the resourceful islanders cleverly came up with weapons from their everyday tools. They hid their fighting techniques within their dances and folkways. They practiced magic under the cover of stories and religious practices.
They put their faith in the spirits of the land, and Thaya, the goddess of the moon. On a full moon in the year 2071, the Talinos rose as one people against their scaly overlords. They coordinated with their diasporic cousins and the allies they had gathered. As an armada led by Lozar attacked sahuagin installations, the islanders attacked from inside the Empire. Talino assassins simultaneously wiped out more than half of the sahuagin's leadership.
The sea devil domination of the Talinian Ocean had been broken. It took a few more decades to end the war. The bloodthirsty Talinos hunted the sahuagin both above and below the waves. They took the heads of the shark men and mounted them on their boats and the walls of their fortresses. In the end, the sahuagins were hunted to the brink of extinction. Their empire has never recovered.
Beautiful work bud well done!
